Dead Man’s Cell Phone will be performed Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
(Waukesha, WI) The Carroll Players present Dead Man’s Cell Phone by Sarah Ruhl in association with Carroll University’s Theatre & Arts Management Program. Dead Man’s Cell Phone will be performed Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show will appear on the main stage of the Otteson Theatre, located at 238 N. East Avenue in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Dead Man’s Cell Phone, directed by Carroll University Theatre & Arts Management Faculty Professor Jennifer Dobby, features 14 Carroll students as well as Equity Milwaukee actress Laura Gray. Admission is free and seats can be reserved at tickets.carrollu.edu.
“This show conveys an important message about our technologically obsessed society,” says director Professor Jennifer Dobby, “and it does so in a darkly comedic manner that many audiences will enjoy. I am constantly striving to bring new experiences to our Carroll University students and the Otteson Theatre stage. Dead Man’s Cell Phone produces an element of whimsy and magic that isn’t like anything our university has seen before.”
Dead Man’s Cell Phone by Sarah Ruhl is about an incessantly ringing cell phone in a quiet café, a stranger at the next table who has had enough, and a dead man—with a lot of loose ends. A wildly imaginative dark comedy, it is a work about how we memorialize the dead—and how that remembering changes us. It is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption and the need to connect in a technologically-obsessed world.
