New Music, Comedy Coming to Town
Wavves, Jon McLaughlin, Mike Peters and Last Comic Standing Live all booked for shows heading to Milwaukee.
Last Comic Standing
If laughter really does make you live longer, the Last Comic Standing and DigiTour tours could be good news for your longevity. There are also a number of just-announced concerts heading to town. Finally, there’s new Pabst partnership being formed that could help Milwaukee become an even more important music-destination city. All good.
In The Valley Below (w/ Boots)
Tuesday, July 28th – The Rave – 8 p.m. – $10.21
This FM 102.1 sponsored exposure show features In The Valley Below. Michigan and Memphis natives Angela Gail and Jeffrey Jacob, respectively, along with drummer Joshua Clair, have fused elements of folk-country, synth pop, art rock, and blues into their own unique style of music. Mike Peters
Tuesday, September 22nd – Shank Hall – 8 p.m. – $15
Former lead singer of the Welsh band, The Alarm, Mike Peters is a passionate contemporary artist and advocate for cancer survivors and charity. Peters, in his second remission from leukemia, is continuously making music and is known for his acoustic/electric roots-rock sound and his refusal to give into the disease that has shadowed his life for 20 years. The British artist will be touring the U.S. in the fall.
Wavves
Thursday, September 24th – The Rave – 8 p.m. – $17.50
Wavves, an alternative band from San Diego, was formed in 2008 as a recording project of singer/songwriter Nathan Williams. Its 2012 album Afraid of Heights, was ranked as the year’s third best by Still in Rock. Wavves is releasing not just one, but two albums this summer – one in June and the other in August, and tours this fall with special guest Twin Peaks, so there should be no shortage of new music getting performed.

Last Comic Standing Live
Saturday, October 3rd – The Pabst Theater– 7 p.m. – $35
The enormously successful comedy tour is coming back to Milwaukee. Grab this chance to catch the top 5 most hilarious comedians fight for the title of Last Comic Standing. The NBC hit show starts its ninth season July 22nd with new judge Norm MacDonald. Follow the TV competition and then see it live in our very own city this October.
Jon McLaughlin
Friday, December 4th – Shank Hall – 8 p.m. – $20
This Indiana based singer/songwriter has been playing piano and making music since childhood. A lifetime of practice has led to a soul-filled pop sound. McLaughlin has collaborated with other hit artists such as Demi Lovato and Sara Bareilles, and has shared the stage with huge names in music – Adele, Bon Jovi and even Bob Dylan.
DigiTour – Slaybells Tour
Sunday, December 20th – Turner Hall Ballroom – 4 p.m. – $25
DigiTour is a media/entertainment company that features YouTube and Vine stars and creates real life experiences for a live audience. Some of your favorite social media based performers will be on this tour to perform live concerts. Last year, over 100,000 fans attended DigiTour events in some of the largest cities nationwide – including Chicago, Denver, New York, and Los Angeles. DigiTour is taking the action to Milwaukee for the “Slaybells Tour.” The line-up is yet to be announced, but it’s sure to include some of the hottest internet entertainers in rock, alternative music, hip-hop and comedy.

New Pabst Partnership Brings the Music
BMO Harris Bank has announced an annual partnership with the Pabst Theater Group to help bring music to Milwaukee. Jeff Ticknor, Head of Commercial Banking for BMO Harris Bank, announced the partnership, saying this: “We are excited to have an opportunity to connect and engage with our community through the arts and are thrilled to support the Pabst Theater Group and the hundreds of entertainment events it brings to the city of Milwaukee.”
The partnership has already inspired four mini-documentaries about Milwaukee as a destination city for touring artists. These videos, about two and a half minutes apiece, show why more musical acts are loving Milwaukee. They give a behind the scenes look at how the Pabst Theater Group goes above and beyond to make performers feel welcome and comfortable in Miltown while they’re on tour.
