Our new feature offers a weekly update of upcoming music and comedy shows now selling tickets.

Busy, busy, busy. You love to catch the coolest music performers, comedy shows and the like. But maybe you don’t have time to stay on top of all the upcoming shows.

Welcome to The Ticket Window, our new weekly feature updating fans on the latest shows now selling tickets. What with the growth of venues like the Pabst and Turner Hall, Milwaukee has greatly increased the number of live acts coming to town. Which means you might miss the chance to get tickets to a hot show. The Ticket Window aims to make sure you have a quick weekly update on all the new shows announced. As this week’s inaugural column reveals, there’s a lot of great entertainment heading to town in the coming months, from comedian Ralphie May to rapper Kevin Gates to venerable rockers Wishbone Ash. Talib Kweli

Thursday, July 9th – Turner Hall Ballroom – 9:00 PM

The hip hop recording artist from Brooklyn produces music that questions political and societal norms with thought-provoking lyrics. Since his first album release in 2002, Kweli has built a following for his distinctive artistry and world view. He will be making his Turner Hall debut with this Midsummer Night’s Dream tour appearance.

Dan Navarro

Saturday, July 18th – Shank Hall – 8:00 p.m.

The longtime singer, songwriter and actor is well known for his musical partnership with Eric Lowen, which ended in 2009, and now performs solo tours. When not on the road, Navarro voice-acts in movies and shows such as Family Guy, Happy Feet, and The Lorax, and Coca-Cola and Toyota commercials.

Kevin Gates

Friday, July 24th – The Rave – 8:00 p.m.

Gates is a rapper out of Baton Rouge. His childhood was rough – he was faced with the dangers of drugs, guns, and gangs from a young age. He managed to focus on his goal of gaining stardom and now the self-proclaimed superstar is coming to Milwaukee to perform on the #IDGT Part 2 Tour.

Wendy Williams

Thursday, July 30th – Riverside Theater – 7:30 p.m.

She’s the daytime talk show host of the Emmy nominated Wendy Williams Show. Fans should expect an “un-cut” Wendy, one ready to tell-all like it is, recall her own true stories, and party with the audience with a live deejay. The show’s promoters promise the comedian in an uncensored state on her Sit Down Tour… Too Real For Stand Up.

Jen Kirkman

Wednesday, September 9th – Turner Hall Ballroom – 8:00 p.m.

The artist and stand-up comedian became familiar through her appearances on Comedy Central and late night television shows. She has written for and appeared as a guest on Chelsea Lately, presents a weekly podcast, and is working on a second book due for release in 2016.

Wishbone Ash

Thursday, September 10th – Turner Hall Ballroom – 7:30 p.m.

The popular rock band is recognized worldwide, has been an influence on bands such as Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy, and continues to make impressions on rock fans of all ages. They’ve toured since the late 1960’s and their Milwaukee show is part of their Road Warriors Tour.

SoMo With Jordan Bratton

Saturday, September 26th – The Rave – 7:30 p.m.

The self-taught Texas musician taught himself to play piano and recorded a cover of a Chris Brown song that went viral on YouTube. His emotion-driven music continues to attracts fans and has pushed him into popularity. He is currently on his Fallin’ Up tour.

Ralphie May

Friday, September 26th – Pabst Theater – 8:00 p.m.

A well-loved American comic since his appearance on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” this Southern-born comedian has made repeat appearances on several late-night talk shows and has written for and produced ESPN’s “Mohr Sports.” The Too Big to Ignore comedian is returning to the Pabst where his show was originally filmed in 2012.

The Districts

Monday, October 5th – Turner Hall Ballroom – 8:00 p.m.

An up-and-coming indie rock band, the Pennsylvania group was a hit at 2014’s SXSW and has played in various other shows across the United States and Europe. High school friends formed the band, and they have since become increasingly popular for their distinctive sound.
