Cedarburg Strawberry Festival

World record scoop of ice cream was the desert for the 29th annual festival.

Back for its 29th year, the Cedarburg Strawberry Festival painted the town red this past weekend. While the buzz may have been about world largest’s scoop of ice cream (3,013 pounds), festival goers packed Washington Ave. and side streets while looking for art, crafts, musical entertainment and strawberry-flavored everything.

Strawberry brats? A staple. Chocolate-covered strawberries? You bet. Strawberry wine? Of course. Strawberry popcorn? A tradition. Strawberry candles? Why not? Strawberry ice cream? 3,000 plus pounds of it from Kemps Dairy, the equivalent of 733 containers. Freshly picked strawberries? Seemingly boring at an event like this, but there were plenty of those, too. If you could dream it up, it’s safe to say someone was trying to sell that strawberry-enhanced concoction to you.

Our photos capture the event which boasted an estimated 100,000 attendees spread over Saturday and Sunday.
